Born in 2008 as the “Alliance of North Westerners in Toronto,” the Cameroon Association of North Westerners in Canada (CANWC) officially adopted its first Constitution in February 2009. From the start, it was built as an apolitical, development-oriented community committed to the welfare and integration of its members. Its core mission centers on promoting the North West cultural heritage while fostering unity, social support, and community growth among North Westerners in Canada.
Through the years, CANWC has achieved remarkable milestones despite the challenges that come with growth. A highlight among its achievements is the impactful sponsorship of the Ndu Water Project — a testament to the Association’s dedication to meaningful, people-centered development.
General Assembly meetings are held every second Saturday of the month, bringing members together for dialogue, fellowship, and cultural expression. The executive team — made up of the President, Vice President, Secretary General, Financial Secretary, Treasurer, and Social Secretary — oversees operations, solidarity funds, and a community Njangi initiative that supports members financially.
Cultural programs, children’s activities, and the newly introduced Financial Literacy and Development Forum further strengthen CANWC’s role in community empowerment, ensuring every generation finds purpose, connection, and opportunity within the Association

Our mission is clear and purposeful; to collaboratively build a vibrant, united North West Community anchored in mutual respect, solidarity, and progress. We seek to preserve, promote, and promulgate the rich cultural heritage of our people while fostering inclusion, empowerment, and collective growth. Through shared vision and purposeful engagement, we aim to transform our community into a beacon of unity, excellence, and enduring cultural legacy for present and future generations.

Cameroon Association of North Westerners is a socio-cultural organization dedicated to invoking an educated positive understanding of African culture, values, and traditions. Knowing one’s culture enhances education and life. The North Westerners Association offers valuable insight to the African-Canadian community as to their roots and cultural values. In Canadian society especially, African Canadian role models are vitally needed to uplift and build the community.
